Cheam School, Headley

New Sports Complex

The new Sports Hall and Changing Rooms complex was completed in 2005. The Sports Hall is marked out for 3 badminton courts, basketball, netball/five-a-side football and tennis. There are fixed and fold-out climbing frames as well as other equipment. A dance/multi-purpose room forms part of the accommodation at first floor level. Changing rooms are provided for the whole School, staff and for visiting sports teams.

The building was opened by Martin Johnson CBE, former England rugby captain.

The School hopes to complete the complex with an indoor swimming pool for which planning permission has been obtained.

The Sports complex is on a low lying part of the School site. This location, taken with the careful massing of the design, allows the size of this large building to be visually reduced.
