Cheam School, Sports Hall

In the early years of the millennium the School had recognized that the then current facilities for indoor sports had become inadequate in a number of areas. The Sports Hall was undersized, uninsulated and unheated, with persistent condensation. Changing rooms were remote from the Hall and had reached the end of their useful life.

The new building is located to the north of the School buildings and is readily accessible from the Prep School and also from the Pre-Prep and Nursery Schools. It is set down in an area formerly used as tennis courts.

The building comprises all new facilities with a 4 x badminton court sized general use Hall, also laid out for netball, five-side-football, basketball and cricket nets. A mezzanine level provides a viewing gallery as well as additional space for a dance studio.

Extensive, fully fitted changing facilities are included for boys, girls, visitors and staff, and planning permission has been obtained for an adjoining 25m indoor swimming pool, yet to be built.
